Bangkok: Why This City is Great

The City of Angels, also known as Bangkok, is known for its background, culture, and beauty. Whether you spend a day or a week in the city, you will surely have an unforgettable experience as you explore temples, street food, and markets. A great deal of people enjoy Bangkok because despite the hustle and bustle, you still get a chance to take it easy.

Travelling in Bangkok is actually quite simple. The Skytrain gives you a faster way to zip from place to place without having to strain your legs. The list of reasons to visit Bangkok is expansive, but here are these are the main reasons we think you should take the trip.

The Grand Palace

Built over an expanse of more than 50 acres, the Grand Palace was once the dwelling place of the Thai King. Constructed in the early 1780s, this beautiful gold structure filled with sculpted Buddhist figures and intricate art currently holds the spot as Bangkok’s most visited destination.

Wat Phra Kaew, known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is also within these walls. The Ramayana painting along one of the inner walls is the most lengthy wall painting on earth.

Street Food

Of course, street food is a must when in Bangkok. Tourists flock to the city streets in search of delicious Thai cuisine, and you will definitely be dazzled by the wide assortment of food offered. Thai cuisine is known for integrating five different flavors: sweet, spicy, salty, sour, and bitter. Some of the more well-known dishes include guay theaw (Thai rice noodles), somtum (spicy papaya salad), moo ping (grilled pork) and basically any and all desserts.

Markets

Bangkok is a great shopping destination. Whether you prefer to shop in high-end shopping malls or get the cultural experience at a floating market, you will enjoy an experience that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. Many people especially enjoy floating markets; the vendors floating along the water with all their goods make for quite the unique experience.

Nightlife

As with everything else, Bangkok gives you a great variety of options when it comes to nightlife. You could enjoy the skyline and a drink at a rooftop bar in the heart of the city, or go on a river cruise. If you prefer something a little bit more fast-paced, there are nightclubs and pubs to visit as well.

The Lungs of Bangkok

Bang Krachao Gardens is a quiet little part of Bangkok that allows you to get a little repose after the chaos of the rest of the city. You can take a gander down the paths and take in the nature, while looking at the wooden houses along the river. It is called the “Lungs of Bangkok” for a reason - it is a great place to get some fresh air, even in the city.

Bangkok is quite an advanced and hectic city. However, they have cared for their culture and traditions, keeping them for years to come. The historical sites are well-maintained, so rest assured that they will be here when you decide to visit. Beware though - once you have, you’ll keep coming back!
